- "Let's see. Dark Belra... 'Dark Belra. D-Cellular Sub lifeform.' It seems that we haven't yet uncovered everything about this creature. 'It's very slow-moving. But its arms allow it to strike most creatures at long range.' That's all it says. Guess you better not drop your guard! You won't be safe just because you're far away from one."
- — Elly and Calus in VR Temple Beta
Dark Belra is a dark attribute enemy that appears in the Ruins of Episode 1, and as a simulated monster in VR Temple Beta. In Ultimate, this monster is replaced by Indi Belra. Although Dark Belra are slow, they make up for the lack of speed by having a powerful ranged attack wherein they catapult their massive pillar-sized arm at hunters.
Dark Belra are immensely slow yet powerful creatures. Their primary role in the mob is to snipe hunters by launching their massive arms, which can pierce through any target ally or enemy as it travels across the arena, while other enemies are distracting the party. As such, they usually spawn toward the back or in a corner, although there are rooms where three belras will appear simultaneously in the middle. If a hunter comes within melee range, Dark Belra will attempt to "hug" them by enclosing their arms around the target with a powerful strike which can inflict paralysis.
If faced one-on-one with a belra, one strategy is to simply run around it in circles. After some time, the creature will get dizzy as it slowly gives chase. It will make a sound signifying that it is temporarily unable to attack, and it is at this moment that the hunter can strike without worry until the monster recovers its composure. Another more faster tactic is to keep close to the monster's rear and attack it from there until it is defeated. As long as it is not facing anyone, it will be unable to do anything.
If faced with a group of monsters containing belras, always keep an eye on where they are facing in reference to yourself, and make sure to anticipate and dodge the trajectory of belra's arm attack before it launches.
