Gra (Japanese: グラブト, possibly "Grabuto" or "Gravito") is a basic damage technique common to Phantasy Star games.

Etymology[]

While somewhat difficult to decipher due to its unusual spelling in Japanese, グラブト (gu-ra-bu-to) may be intended to be "Grabuto" (グラ太), a combination of the word "gravity" and the Japanese word futo (太), meaning "big" or "grand" (thus Grabuto may mean something like "strong/intense gravity"). Or, グラブト may be intended to be "Gravito," though this does not fit the katakana as closely.

Rolf casting gra in Phantasy Star II

Phantasy Star II[]

In Phantasy Star II, gra costs 8 TP to cast. It deals 16 to 23 damage to all enemies, with a 90% chance to hit.

Rolf, Amy, Hugh, Kain, and Shir are the only player characters who can use gra. Rolf learns gra at level 10, Amy learns gra at level 40, Hugh learns gra at level 27, Kain learns gra at level 14, and Shir learns gra at level 24.

Phantasy Star IV[]

In Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium, gra costs 10 TP to cast. It deals gravity damage to all enemies equal to 32 plus the caster's mental stat, modified by each enemy's gravity sensitivity and mental defense stat. Dimensional demons are particularly sensitive to gravity damage.

Kyra's gra can be combined with Rune's negatis skill in any order to do a black hole combo.

Rune and Kyra are the only player characters who can use gra. Both already know gra when they join the party.
