"A big, tough, single-horned dragon. It spits flames that leave nothing in their wake."
— Bestiary entry in Phantasy Star Zero

Reyburn (Japanese: レイバーン) is the area boss of Gurhacia Valley. It is a large dragon that makes its home at the peak of a mountain.

Reyburn possesses many visual similarities from dragons in Phantasy Star Online, most notably the iconic Dragon from the forest.

Reyburn causing a shockwave with its loud screech

Reyburn is Phantasy Star Zero's dragon boss customary to most games in the Online RPGS series of video games. It functions a little differently from the dragons from Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe, but it does retain some qualities of dragons in previous games.

For starters, Reyburn is hard especially to new players starting as humans, although he has slightly lower stats since he is the first boss in their story. It will take a few tries to kill him successfully if you just rush in, but there is a good way to kill him. Putting Heat Resistance on an armor slot could help a good amount since most of his attacks are fire based, and the weapon of choice is either a ranged weapon to hit his head easier or a spinner weapon which can attack all of his parts if thrown correctly.

Reyburn has a lot of attacks that are rather hard to dodge, one being the fireball. It can shoot it on the ground or the air and they are fast so time the dodge roll right in order to avoid them, however, being hit by them is most likely inevitable for beginning players. This is where the Heat Resistance would come into effect; you don't need it but fireballs will do massive damage without it. Reyburn can also do a shock wave which can also be dodged with a roll. Once it's in the air, it can do a dive attack that can create a lava pit on impact so stay out of that pit because you will take damage if you stay in it. Heat Resistance comes in handy here, too.

Once Reyburn's health drops below a certain point, it will turn red and go into a rage where his attacks are stronger and slightly faster, plus he gains a new attack. When it's in the air, it may do a barrel roll attack where he constantly zips across the entire arena trying to dive on you. Just keep running and pay attention to where he is on the radar so you can see where he is about to dive and get ready to avoid it. You could roll, but since it makes you pause afterwords for a couple of seconds, it is not recommended. Keep hitting him when you get the chance with a gun or a spinner and he should go down in no time.
